This work aims at evaluation of nutritional status and diet of women whose BMI ≥ 25 (kg/m2) aged 60–69 and 70–85, students at The Third Age University in Szczecin. Nutritional status, body content, socioeconomic status, quantitative daily food rations (crp) and their resultant Glycemic Index (GI) and Glycemic Load (GL) were evaluated. All women aged 70–85 were found obese, with higher percentage of those with visceral obesity. In both age groups of women high content of fat tissue (FM) was ascertained, which was accompanied by lower content of total water (TBW) and fat free body mass (FFM). In crp of the study women, the supply of energy and most of the nutrients differed from the recommended values. Resultant GI and GL of meals of the study women were low but significantly higher in second breakfasts of the younger women. These results show that it would be advisable for the women to take part in some education course on healthy nutrition in order to modify their dietary habits and thus reduce their body mass.
